Ann's. Many have never been away... never had a summer vacation... never been to the beach... never seen the ocean. Hard to believe, isn't it? It is for me, fortunate enough to spend my childhood summers on Cape Cod with by beloved grandparents.

Well, thanks to the generosity of The New England Food Foundation (www.nefoodfoundation.org), every unit of children and adolescents once again has the opportunity to spend a week in Sandwich at the Foundation's summer house, known as The Cape House. Set on a lake in Sandwich Mass, a short trip takes the residents to the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Cod's wonderful, sandy beaches. What a treat! You'll soon see the many happy faces as we await the photographs taken on these trips.

Of course, every unit of children and adolescents requires the same, if not more, 24/7 staff supervision, medication oversight, well, everything necessary to allow for a week at the beach. St. Ann's is grateful to the Essex County Community Foundation (www.eccf.org )through whose Summer Fund Program, we are able to offset some of the cost of staffing the get-aways for the kids.

Without such great partners, we wouldn't be summering on the Cape, so to speak.
